How to Exp/Imp Subsets of Data?

I am trying to populate a test database and a development database with production data. I do not have the dasd or the need to export/import the entire database. Is it possible to export a subset of rows from a table? For example, if I wanted the first 500,000 rows out of a 3 million row table, are there parameters in exp/imp that will allow me to do this?

If not what is an alternative? Any input would be appreciated. Thanx
