[Q] db file scattered read

hi all,  

i have a Pro*C program which sets up a cursor and then inserting records to 2 other tables. the problem is sometime the program seems hanging. it normally runs approximate 60mins but somehow it runs over 24 hours and not doing any work. after looking around the system. i have found it might be in an 'dead lock' state. because i found entries (both table which i insert record into it) in the v$locked view any saying 'db file scattered read' anyone have any idea what might probably be wrong?

i could provide more specific details if it helps to solve the problem.
