SET SHOW OFF not working ?

Despite the fact that I use the:  SET SHOW OFF command I still get the
old/new text in my extract files.  Isn't this command supposed to
surpress the writing of old/new text to the file?



Is it possible that another command is taking precedence in this
situation?
