Interfacing to Order Entry via OrderImport

Gentlemen:

I'm an extreme newbie developing for Oracle (or even using Oracle for that matter) who's been tasked with interfacing our legacy system to a new Oracle system (running 10.7NCA).

I've been asked to develop a way to interface with the Order Entry system (to move legacy RMAs) with the following limitations:

  1. No changes can be done on the server side (no new tables, stored proceedures or even changes in security).
  2. This code must be completed and testing started within the next 30 days.

Ugh.

So while frantically pawing my way through tons of documentation, I came across a few cryptic references to OrderImport, which seems perfect for my needs (short-term anyway).

I've got some documentation on order (it appears to be documented in "Oracle Financials and Oracle Government Financials Open Interfaces Manual") but I'd like to start before it gets here (I was very surprised to find nothing in the technical reference manuals about this process).

I don't suppose anyone has done this before and can:

(a) comment on how well it worked for them
(b) provide any example code on how to do this (in pretty much

      any language).

Any feedback would be appreciated.

Thanks,

Brad. Received on Mon Apr 27 1998 - 14:17:01 CDT
