Home -> Community -> Usenet -> c.d.o.misc -> Is Personal Oracle 8 suitable as a training tool?
Hello,
Recent projects have shown me what a powerful tool Oracle would be in my toolbox, and I have decided to make Oracle a new focal point in my career. I have several projects coming up in the next year that would use Oracle as a server.
What I am trying to figure out is, what is the best and most economical path for becoming competent in Oracle from a DBA point of view. I have written client side applications that connect to Oracle in the past (VB, etc) and feel I know that side well enough.
If I use Personal Oracle 8 as a tool to learn basic DBA will those skills transfer over well (without big gaps) to Oracle 8 under NT?
If I use Personal Oracle 8 to prototype systems and databases can I make seamless moves to more advanced Oracle products? If not seamless are the issues well documented so they can be avoided?
Thanks for your time and attention,
Erik Heidt
