Actually I've finally had time to play around with this a little. It seems that the internal name allocation limit within the 2.2.3 parser is 28 characters. Any variable or function names beyond this limit generate an error. This is with full parsing. There seems to be a similar limitation with defined names, which also makes itself felt with only partial parsing. I've tried this with both K&R and ANSI Pro*C modes.
