SQLPLUS extract binary file from table

I have an application that stores WordPerfect files in an oracle table
field.   How can I pull these files out of oracle to a file using
SQLPLUS?  A simple query of the field shows only a few strange
characters and 'WP'



any help greatly appreciated.
