ADO AND Oracle LONG Type?

I get an unknown error when trying to SELECT (via ADO) from an Oracle table that contains a LONG. If try the same operation on a table that differs only in that the LONG type is a VARCHAR2, then everything works fine. I believe that I using the latest versions of ADO (Version 1.5) and the Oracle 7 ODBC driver (Version 2.5).
How can I track down this problem?
