You seem to have misunderstood my question. Or perhaps I didn't give
enough detail.
"Benchmark Factory" is a $5,000 (or $10,000 with the recommended
native driver stuff) product.
This is a single AS/400 which is being replaced be an Oracle
with Smart Client situation. For $10,000 worth of software and
probably the same amount of people time (at least) to do some fancy
modelling work, we could just apply the same amount of money and
make the network infrastructure that much faster.
To put it in more detail: We're looking at 10 megabit ethernet
PC clients and the main Oracle server on a 100 megabit switch port.
The network can currently handle AS/400 terminal emulation traffic
just fine. What I need to know is how much load Smart Client typically
puts on a network segment.
By the way - do you have any financial relationship with the Benchmark Factory folks ?
