In Oracle7, there is no crypt package available, however Oracle does have a package called dbms_crypto_toolkit which has functions for encryption and digital signatures. The oracle8 documentation for this is

       Oracle Cryptographic Toolkit Programmer's Guide
       Release 2.0.3
       A54082-01

Its part of the Oracle8 Security server.
