Oracle Error <ORA-12542: TNS:address already in use>

Hello,

Some of the Pro C programs that I am working on are giving the following Oracle error and aborting.

SQL Failed with error message "ORA-12542:TNS:address already in use

This error occurs when the batch process is trying to connect to the Oracle Server on a SUN/PYRAMID Database.

Can anybody please post a reply giving a solution to eliminate this error and a reason why this error is occurring?
