sun solaris dev2k??

I am teaching a course in which I want to use developer/2000 on sun solaris 2.5. We run oracle 7.1.6. The system administrator says that it has to be upgraded to 7.3.3 in order to run dev2k. I told him I didn't think that was the case. Has anybody had any experience with this? I am particularly in need of forms4.5.
