New appearance of errors on SQL Plus on connect...

Hello all!
I am running Oracle 8, and all of a sudden when trying to connect to it with SQL Plus (with either version 3.3 or 8) I am getting the following messages:

SQL*Plus: Release 3.3.3.0.0 - Production on Wed Sep 24 08:58:16 1997

ERROR:
ORA-06553: PLS-213: package STANDARD not accessible

Error accessing package DBMS_APPLICATION_INFO ERROR:
ORA-06553: PLS-213: package STANDARD not accessible

Error accessing package DBMS_APPLICATION_INFO You may need to install the Oracle Procedural option SET APPINFO requires Oracle Server Release 7.2 or later

Connected to:
Oracle8 Enterprise Edition Release 8.0.3.0.0 - Production With the Partitioning and Objects options PL/SQL Release 8.0.3.0.0 - Production

Can anyone make some suggestions what might have started this and where to look for information on how to correct it? It was all working fine the other day and I'm not sure what has happened here...
