[SNAP !] One thing I've experienced is that a version mismatch of SQL*Net on the clients
and on the server was a problem.

With the server running version 2.3 (RDBMS v 7.3.2.3) and the clients running
version 2.1, connections was really slow (15 - 20 secs). After upgrading the
clients connections were fast (1-2 secs).
