Cameron,

        I'd like to support the othe posted response: pls tell us some more info. Hardware run on? Check the log files? Put trace on and see what it shows you? Solaris 2.4 was not that good of an OS: strongly urge an upgrade to 2.5.1.

        Also, don't understand what you mean when you say the listener "hangs"-it's either running or not. Is it running and doesn't respond--you seem to indicate when you say "restart" that the listener has stopped.

	Could be attributable to network problems but less likely.
	Do many diverse events occur within the same span of time
every 2 days which would cause many CPU-intensive processes to run on the system? How much RAM and swap are you using?
