Looks like you are running an ORACLE server on unix. If so, I have gotten the same error a few times. Where you logged in as oracle or oracle7?
If not you should log in as oracle or oracle7 (oracle is the enterprise default login, oracle 7 is Oracle work groups server version).
This could be a prob with have all the Oracle environment lables defined like $ORACLE_HOME $ORACLE_SID in your profile.
Try it out.
