Designer/2000 Book/Manual/Tutorial?

I've been using Designer/2000 for a couple of weeks and find the provided documentation next to useless. There is a tutorial manual which I went through, but it just tells you "click here, type this, select that" and tells you basically nothing about HOW TO ACTUALLY USE THE PRODUCT or HOW THE MANY TOOLS IN IT INTERACT.

Does anyone know of a *good* reference for Designer/2000 that really explores all its functions and trains one how to become proficient in it? I don't want to have to fork out $1000 to go to a week of training if I can avoid it.
