POSITION 1 (Bay Area)
DESCRIPTION:
Our client is in the early stages of replacing all major computer system
supporting the administration of the university. The Oracle Integrated
Financial Applications suite will be the foundation for the new core
financial systems. These Oracle applications will be extended using
Oracle Forms 4.5, World-Wide Web technologies and tools, Oracle Work
Flow and client/.server reporting technologies. The Application DBA
will be a key member of the project team supporting a development team
of 40-50 employees and Oracle consultants.
Duties of the Application DBA: participate in capacity requirements analysis (at the senior level, lead this activity), develop data security strategy, collaborate with Operations Systems and Services group in the installation of new RDBMS, Applications and Oracle Webserver software releases, install patches to both server and client code, participate in the definition and documentation of the support model for the Oracle Financials (e.g., server management, backup and recovery strategy and execution), oversee the adequacy of execution of this support model, defining and administration of Concurrent Managers, configure of custom extensions to interoperate with Oracle Applications, manage the configuration and maintenance of the various database instances, monitor server capacities and performance, performance tuning of the database, collaborate in performance tuning of applications, troubleshoot problems, develop and document procedures for Application administration (e.g., defining users and roles). At the senior level, the incumbent is expected to evaluate technical strategies, select appropriate solutions, establish hardware and software component requirements, configure and integrate project components.
QUALIFICATIONS:
BA/BS degree in CS or equivalent experience, plus at least three years
of DBA experience, preferably with Oracle. Experience should encompass
external user functions, internal system services, and file system
structures. Experience in database design and performance tuning.
Knowledge of security issues and strategies in the Unix environment.
Experience with general software development cycles, including
requirements specification, modeling, system design, database
development, documentation, and maintenance is desirable. Skill in Unix
OS (particularly Sun Solaris) commands, file structures and scripting.
Skill with Windows 95 and NT desirable. Experience with software
configuration management tools desirable. Familiarity with CASE tools
and information engineering concepts and techniques. Familiarity with
TCP/IP networking environment highly desirable. Demonstrated ability to
work as a productive, self-motivated member of a team to accomplish
project goals. Ability to work independently to meet team and
organizational goals. Demonstrated ability to deliver quality systems
that meet functional specifications. Ability to focus and produce under
tight deadlines. Good written and oral communication skills.
Experience working in a highly complex technical and organizational
environment. Experience working with people at multiple levels of the
organization. Ability to deal with changing requirements and
priorities. Demonstrated willingness to take on new challenges.
There could be contract-to-hire option.
POSITION 2 (Bay Area)
This person is a member of the Oracle Database Administration staff responsible for the Oracle Financial software package.
KEY JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
In addition to Oracle Database Administration functions, this person
must have a thorough knowledge of the Oracle Financials software
package. The cndidate must be able to relate with industry database
beers, Unix System Administrators, Network personnel and other technical
staff. The person is responsible for ensuring that production systems
are reliable and available. An ability to quickly analyze problems,
implement solutions and a requirement for the position.
Other duties may include, but are not limited to:
- regular status reporting - prioritizing tasks within the group(s) - firmwide communications as appropriate - system/database standard creation, approval and dissemination - other duties as requested
POSITION 3 (Bay Area)
This position is responsible for providing the leadership, people
management and process administration necessary to enable the group to
develop, integrate and support Oracle Database Administration projects.
KEY JOB RESPONSIBILITIES: This person will be the hands-on leader of the staff which is responsible for Oracle Database Administration. In addition to Oracle Database Administration functions, this person must have a thorough knowledge of the Oracle Financial software package. The candidate must be able to relate with industry database peers, Unix System Administrators, Network personnel and other technical staff. The person is responsible for ensuring that production systems are reliable and available. An ability to quickly analyze problems, implement solutions and a requirement for the position.
Other duties may include, but are not limited to:
- budgeting - variance reporting - monthly management reporting - service level agreement negotiations - management of personnel, including performance appraisals, goalsetting and
- firmwide communications as appropriate - system/database standard creation, approval and dissemination - other duties as required
POSITION 4 (Bay Area)
Position overview
Database Administrator will be responsible for the database design,
performing or checking sizing,recommending requisite system software and
storage devices, advising on data issues, and implementing the
test/production databases/files.
The main responsibilities include:
* Installing and upgrading the database server and application tools.
