From your description of DB2, I'd guess that you're running DB2 2.1. All the excitement lately has been for DB2 UDB 5.0. One of the big changes you'll see is a completely revamped user interface--hopefully you'll find it much better (we use more than blue and white ;-) ).

We will be having an open beta of DB2 UDB 5.0 in the near future (I'm not involved with setting the beta up, so I'm not certain when it will be available or where you can get it, although I think it will be ready around the middle of July). I'd encourage you to get the beta and take a second look.
