I haven't had experience in maintaining that specific configuration, however, I have had to maintain several version of databases (including multi-level [such as 6 on one system, 7 on another etc...]) and all the different types of software associated with it on different systems on multiple client configurations. What I recommend is that you keep a good spreadsheet, plus if possible, try upgrading all systems (servers) up to the lowest required configuration.

If that is not possible, keep a spreadsheet (or database if that is what you like) that contains in a single look up the following:

client os version, network version, sql*net version, rdbms version, server os version and CSI associated with it. This way you have on hand all information necessary to call in problems, plus an easy way to troubleshoot problems.
