I now have it working. The problem was the swap space was to small (now 200MB) and the /tmp was to small (now 200MB).

Installer runs in an xterm window (TERM=vt100), but it will only install common & sqlnet no matter how i move the .prd files around. I am using a pc keyboard - any ideas on how to get to the menu so I can select the correct .prd file ?
