User-Defined (custom) Data Types on Oracle

What is the way to have user-defined data types on an Oracle DB? We want
to give our names to some data types and, if possible, contraints that
will work on that type. These "new" types will be used in column
definitions so that any future changes hav eto be done only at one place.
