I'm not sure you're in the right newsgroup (comp.arch!), but I have to say there's _two_ things wrong with running Oracle on your Netware file and print server. First thing is, as you admit, it probably belongs on a separate server. But the second, and I believe stronger, point is that you shouldn't even be running Oracle on Netware at all! Oracle is a creature of Unix and Netware is a very weak application server (It's beautifully optimized for large-scale file and print services). I suspect that a dual PPro server with 256 MB or so, running Solaris Intel or UnixWare (either is good) would cost maybe as little as $10,000 and be more than adequate for any load your likely to see. I have no experience integrating these with Netware networks but I think they do rather well these days in these environments. Buying another Netware server is probably a bad idea (for this role, anyway).
If you just can't stomach Unix (almost anyone, given time, can learn to love it) then even Windows NT is better than Netware. So wimp out with Windows if you must, but don't try to run big databases on Netware!
BTW, if you're $50k figure referred to a Unix/RISC system, that would certainly do the _best_ job. But don't belly-ache over the price when you can get an adequate Intel Unix system for much, much less.
In an effort to get you some better help than me, I have moved the ballyhoo to some other newsgroups! Look for more help in comp.databases.oracle.misc, comp.os.netware.misc, comp.unix.solaris, and comp.unix.unixware.misc.
Good luck. I hope I'm full of it and you just need to do some tuning, but don't hold your breath...
