Oracle Gurus:

I need your help PLEASE !!!

This is my problem:

I am trying to reach an Oracle database on a remote host (Unix wrkstation)

The client is an Excel Spreadsheet (Microsoft Query) ver 5.0 running in a PC under Windows 95.

I can reach the remote server using SQL*Plus ver 3.2.2.0.1 and using SQL*Net ver 2.2.2.1.0 ==> no problem here

I downloaded from http://www.oracle.com the following ODBC driver for WIN 3.1

Oracle7 ODBC(single byte) Driver ver 1.14.1.0.3

This driver was setup correctly.

Then from whithin Microsoft Query when I tried to add the ODBC data source I get the following error msg:

ORA-12203: TNS: unable to connect to destination (Msg being put out by the driver)

                   couldn't add data source.

My question is :

I am using the wrong driver ?

Should I be using the driver for windows 95 ?

Any help will be greatly appreciated.

Thanks
