SQL*Net and Internet Connections

I am having a problem connecting to both the internet and oracle at the same time. Has anyone else had this problem? Apparently, once my internet connection is up, whenever I launch SQL*Plus (V 3.2), my SQL*Net connection tries to connect via my internet connection. It does not follow the path located in TNSNAMES.ORA or HOSTS. I am using SQL*Net V 2.2.2.1.0 and Oracle TCP/IP Adapter V 2.2.2.1.0. My OS is windows 95 and my NOS is Banyan Vines 6.0/7.0.

Thanks,
