DDE Package

I'm trying to run a VB3.0 program using the DDE package through Dev 2K. I need to poll the program (VB) to find out when it's done running. That's where the problem starts. Oracle didn't think far enough in the future to allow for automatic server responses (since forms can only act as a "client" DDE connection). Anyone out there experience this? Help would much appreciated.
