The Problem :
We discovered data-loss in the main oracle database and we're
trying to figure out where the problem occured and by what
program. The data-loss only happened in one table.
There where about 327 records previous to the data-loss, after the
data-loss there
where only about 255 left.
The system lay-out :
MS-Access is a front End for the Oracle database, this was
done by means of the ODBC-Driver. MS-Access asks the records from
Oracle by means of the ODBC-Driver, and writes them back in the same
way. (The record locking in MS-Access is set to off, because the
Oracle-Database has it's own record-locking.)
The Oracle database can be given new record by means of MS-Access or
via the Oracle-Web interface.
MS-Access is installed on every windows95 computer as is the
ODBC-Driver, the Oracle-Database is running from a sun-sparc
machine with Unix.
Notes :
- There was no error log from oracle, about the error loss,
so Oracle had no faults.
- The Web application runs fine and didn't give any problem,
the error logs from the application didn't report an error.
- The database has now about 452 record and has not delivered
data-loss for a second time.
The versions of the programs installed on the windows95 computers :
SQL*Net Client 2.2.2.1.0 Oracle 7 ODBC Driver 1.13.5.0.0a Oracle Installer 3.1.2.1.3
The versions of the programs installed on the sun sparc :
solaris 2.5
Oracle 7.2.3.0.0
Oracle Webserver 2.0.2.0.0
Any help or insight is appreciated.
