Hi All,
We currently have OEM without the Diagnostic+Tuning pack on the databases.
So, essentially, many of the AWR reports and others are outside the scope
from a monitoring perspective. We have been relying on statspack and it
has been very limited. I am looking at purchasing Diagnostic+Tuning pack. I
would like to get feedback on "Precise for Databases" from Idera and
"Foglight for databases" from Quest. While the goal is to acquire the
capability to dig deep into Oracle databases to understand the queries, we
have a small sql server, mysql, mongo db footprint that is not monitored.
So a cross platform monitoring tool that can provide deep oracle analysis
would be good but the goal is in-depth oracle query performance tuning
analysis. Any feedback on those products and other comparables are
appreciated. On a different note, this is the first time, I am responsible
for licensing purchase and so, any tips about negotiations on discount with
oracle are welcome. To give you some perspective, we are a small shop with
roughly 20 processor based licenses. Feel free to dm me on the negotiation
tips, if you prefer to keep the conversation private. Thanks for your
assistance.
