Now, this is great! There is "massive and relevant demand", but it
depends on me what to enter into a job search site to experience it?
That's like believing in a pink unicorn and I may see it, if only I
believe strong enough. Having a BCS in math, I am not much of a
believer. How do I check the existence of the alleged "massive and
relevant demand" if it's up to me what to enter into the job site search?

What David is saying is that the traditional DBA role is almost extinct and it's now mixed in with a multitude of other responsibilities. If you want to work in that space, and are trying to find demand, you need to shift left. Look for development roles with a highly data-centric focus.

If you are an Oracle DBA today you are mostly specialized in Oracle + and a generalist in many OLTP/OLAP data management solutions cloud and on prem. You are also likely wearing the hat of a developer and/or DevOps and still arguing with yourself about abstraction.
