We actually had the same fight with 11.2.0.2… it took several tries to get our first environment upgraded from 11.2.0.1 because WMI seems to gets its hooks too far into the Oracle homes.

So not necessarily a new problem, but interesting to know that Oracle has finally gotten around to acknowledging it.

For those of you that support ms win db servers I saw an interesting line in the readme for the 11.2.0.4.4 bundle released today.
3.1.1 environment checks
3. Explicitly disable WMI
Sc config winmgmt start=disabled
There is also a line included to re-enable it after the patch has been applied.
