Not really sure what you are saying here Hemant. Yes the likelihood is small on most sites but if this sequence of events happened on a production server then that would be pretty critical to that database wouldn't it. This thread acts as an important heads-up to those who might need to know. John

The bug relates to

  1. Datafile added after the backup
  2. Duplicate done to a point after the addition of a datafile
  3. Usage of db_create_file_dest

There would have been many DUPLICATE DATABASEs done in the past 2 years. But few with the combination noted above.
