Agreed. AWR shows the number of sessions that are currently open at the end of the snapshot interval, via "logons current" in v$sysstat (See DBA_HIST_SYSTAT). And as Jared mentioned, ASH only shows data for sessions that are actually active. If auditing is enabled for connections perhaps you could mine DBA_AUDIT_SESSION, but if this is really required it may be easier to roll your own solution by sampling "logons current" more frequently than the AWR interval.
