Delphix is currently beta testing with qualifying customers a method of doing cross platform migration where the conversion is done in in place on the datafiles, meaning both the pre-migration and post-migration datafiles are both available and share the same storage. It's based on file system snapshot technology in conjunction with keeping a map of byte swapped bytes. If you are interested, let me know off line about your company and what you are doing.
Delphix will be talking about how this in place cross platform migration works at Oaktable World during Oracle Open World. The talk is Monday 2pm on Sept 23, see http://www.kylehailey.com/oaktable-world/agenda/
