OT - Where do you guys store the data...

Looking at this news, I wonder what kind of storage media do the listers here use and what kind of backup media they have. Anyone using any external hard drive for live data?

By the way, I was told by a Canadian friend that he tried to get some info about his loans, but they did not have any. Looks like there was no backup.
