Very strange. I ordered new, and have been using a MacBook Pro 15" w/ Retina screen and 16GB RAM, from the factory, since beginning of July 2012. Used it at Open World.

That 16GB was an option, tucked away on the 'order' page. The amount of RAM can not be changed once delivered.
