Did it take much time to apply this?

I used it once a few years ago - it worked fine, but IIRC it took quite awhile. A lot of the time could have been overhead to locate the file on tape, and then located the correct bit of the backup file (20g pieces)

Seems like it took an hour or so.

Fortunately it was a rarely accessed block.
