I did have a chance to ask this question to the Golden Gate and the Streams Folks Last Openworld. They Said that New enhancements will move into the Golden Gate space but they had no plans of removing Already existing streams functionality as well as provide bug fixes as needed. No enhancements will be added to the Streams Product as it stands. Hope that helps.

They have not retired Materialized Views yet. :-)

I do recall seeing a somewhat vague statement (just following the GoldenGate acquisition) that Oracle was planning to make GoldenGate "the future of streams". Does that mean Streams will go away? I'd be surprised. But maybe not shocked.

Oracle 11gR2 still supports Steams, so if you deploy streams now, you know it will still be supported at least 5 years from now. In IT that's about as good a guarantee as you get.

If you have serious doubts, take them to Oracle. Perhaps your sales rep can put you in touch with the Streams product manager. (Motivation always helps; you could maybe hint that you are considering migrating to DB2 because Oracle's product line is too unpredictable.) :-)
