So for Sybase / MSSQL connectivity you could use this combination: 1) Oracle's Transparent Gateway for ODBC 2) UnixODBC 3) FreeTDS ODBC drivers I've done this on Linux and Solaris (had to compile the FreeTDS drivers on Solaris) and it has worked without problems. If you use Oracle's Transparent Gateway for Sybase (or MSSQL or whatever else) then you need to pay for Gateway licenses, only the gateway for ODBC is free (and you need to find your own ODBC drivers).
