[apologies to those who may have seen this twice; I guess I too need to
get used to pressing the "Reply-All" button...]

Yeah, well... You know the old saying "You can't judge a book by its
cover"...

On the other hand, judging a book by its author, or its publisher, or
even its reviewer, is a whole different kettle of fish, isn't it?

That said (and preposterous-sounding reviewer comments aside) the book
in question *could* provide readers (like me) who know little about
Streams with a comparatively painless introduction to the subject. Just
based on the reviewers comments though, (and recognising that the
reviewer was also an editor) I'd be darned sure to read the thing with a
"grain of salt" and head straight off to the reference material once I
finished the book...

As for the comments about RAC vs. Streams, well, I *do* know some quite
well-regarded people who consider DataGuard to be a substitute for RAC.
Although I personally disagree with that view, I *do* respect it. So,
if such a view is valid (or at least "respectable") for DataGuard, then
/maybe/ its not out of the question to extend it to Streams... [Why on
Earth am I defending this?!?!!]

Perhaps I *should* read this book. But I still not going to /buy/ it.
Maybe I'll be able to find it in a public library some day. Or a
"clearance" bin. ;-)

Cheers,
-- Mark.
