That's very old stuff...  

The newer stuff (and some examples probably reference even parsers / packages which aren't there anymore because these were re-written in C instead off java) can be found here: http://www.oracle.com/technology/tech/xml/xdkhome.html  

Steve Muench book Building Oracle XML Applications (O'Reilly & Associates), is still a good idea sto start with.
