The whole purpose of a user group is to share information. In most cases all of the Oracle people at a given company cannot attend the same conference. If I take good enough notes, then if anyone needs more information, I know which session it was and where to find the white paper. When I send out my conference review, I include not only the DBA's I work with, but developers that have shown an interest in learning new things. Management has cited these reviews on my performance appraisals as an example of my communication skills and team-building efforts. I have done this privately to my own employer, but I have also done this on a 'blog at O'Reilly. You can take a look at it http://www.oreillynet.com/pub/wlg/3128. The 'blog is a bit less technical, which makes it great for management to get an idea of the breadth of topics that are covered in these sessions.
