I'm not a 100% sure but it seems to me that when you use "CREATE OR REPLACE AND COMPILE JAVA SOURCE...." the sourcecode is stored in DBA_SOURCE and when you use loadjava is isn't.
Another interesting thing is that the objects that are "CREATED" rather than loadjava'd seem to be automatically NCOMP'd (check DBA_JAVA_NCOMPS)
