I suppose it is depend which MONITORING you are speaking about. At reading time I imagine many types of monitoring, for example:
- Availability

OS Performance
DB Performance
User activities
DDL (invalid objects, etc)
Space utilization (disc space, tbs, logs)
LOG-s
- …
- …
Any of listened type require further detailization ;) Which MONITORING you are speaking about?
