I know you all are possessed by fanatical interest in Cobol data types. So, I thought I would add that I was pointed to a Metalink note 172074.1 by a private e-mail from M. B. (Thanks!) that explains that the Cobol S9(x) DISPLAY data type corresponds to an Oracle ZONED datatype where each digit is stored in a byte, and the last byte holds a digit and the sign. (According to the Metalink doc.)

I could not care less about Cobol data types, but for you way-out-there geeks, you have now had your daily fix of Cobol geek heroin.
