Don't mess about with the o/s, you could hurt more than solve. Just edit the oraparm.ini file to include your OS in the supported versions section

setting what Stephanie as said will also bypass all the tests.Which is something I dont recommend which will lead to the "Weird Error Messages" as she has reported.I have successfully loaded "General Pourpose" DB on a RH9(Not Supported either) with 256MB RAM 1024MB(Swap) and a Intel PIII 1.13Ghz but let me warn you it did appear hung at certain points but at the end it worked.There is a glibc issue which will make it hang at 71% or 64% at linking phase.Try to find out which file OUI checks to verify the version like for RH9 it is /etc/redhat-release and change it after taking a backup,this way I could fool the OUI to think its a RH AS though it is RH9.
