Just a cursory glance at the feature yields the fact that not all sessions may be eligible for this feature. The other issue is that if someone is not expecting this behavior, they might wonder what happened to their process, why it didn't complete, yet is not running. Kind of like when I discovered spfile by stumbling into it. I was very frustrated until I figured out how to turn it off.

Subject: Why not set all sessions to resumable?

Hey all,

As I'm reading about the new (relatively speaking) features of 9i, I see the "ALTER SESSION ENABLE RESUMABLE" statement. What's the catch? I haven't been able to find out why you wouldn't set this on a process, or in some cases, all user processes in an instance.

Why not? And where's this info?

TIA,
Rich
