I believe the objections stem from the word obligatory, i.e. the suggestion that everyone is supposed to be obligated to share on a weekly basis something with the list. At least that is the case for me. Nobody objects to the voluntary sharing of knowledge. After all, that is what the list is about. But if you remove the obligatory and weekly, then the idea is moot since that is what is already happening.
