Hi All,

Firstly my apologies if this seems like a very *stupid* question but I'm a
tad confused (and it's late in the evening)

When an AFTER INSERT trigger is fired (row level) has the row been committed
to the database at this stage?

<M.Bobak> No, this action happens after the insert but before the
completion of the INSERT statement. In other words, the trigger actions are atomic to the statement that caused them to be executed. If the INSERT is committed, the trigger changes are also committed. If the INSERT is rolled back, so are the trigger modifications.

If so is it ok to call a package in the trigger that selects that row and
changes some values in the row?

<M.Bobak> No, this would likely cause mutation when doing multi-row
inserts. If this is necessary, you may want to re-consider your app design. If that's out of the question, check MetaLink for the standard mutation solution.

<M.Bobak>Hope that helps!

<M.Bobak>PS Autonomous transactions are different, and an exception to
the above. See the documentation for more details....

Thanks,

N.
