Failing to launch dbassist: Oracle 8.1.7 on AIX5L

Hi gurus
I am having a strange problem after successfully installing Oracle 817 on AIX 5.2
If I try to start dbassist I get the following error

Xlib: connection to 172.20.4.11:0:0 refused by server Xlib: Invalid MT-MAGIC-COOKIE-1 key etc tec

The screen just hangs until I run Ctrl-D

What could be the problem
