RE: Oracle Name Server

   You summed it up very well. To this point I've just used a tnsnames file on a few servers and PCs. I have a project that is just starting that will involve many remote laptops. We have some people here getting M$ Active Directory going, so they were very confident they could get the Oracle client software to read the database locations from the Active Directory's LDAP interface. I figured that someone on this list had already done that. Now we're thinking that either it can't be done or we're waiting for somebody smarter to figure it out.

Oracle Internet Directory ("OiD").
